The synthesis of networks having prescribed transfer functions using resistors, capacitors, and one tunnel diode is presented. The restrictions on the given transfer function are that it be a ratio of two polynomials in s, its poles lie on the finite, negative real axis of the s plane, and its numerator polynomial have only real coefficients, with a positive leading coefficient. In general, this synthesis results in two two-port networks, each having a common connection between one input and one output terminal, connected either in parallel or series.
