PŁOMYK (FLAME) VS. MODERN MAGAZINES. THE SKETCH OF A CONTENT ANALYSIS STUDY In this article, the author compares rank-ordered lists of nouns derived from three text corpora: from YA weekly Płomyk (Flame; six issues from the mid-1930s), from Świat Młodych (Youth’s World; six issues from the mid-1970s) and from modern YA magazines such as Bravo or Popcorn. Analysing these lists, one comes to a conclusion that, taking into consideration the main themes as well as presented values, family model and life ideals, a periodical from the mid-1970s is more similar to prewar Płomyk than to contemporary magazines for teenagers.
