REPRESENTASI PEREMPUAN DALAM OLIGARKI PARTAI POLITIK

This thesis examines the influence of the political oligarchy in the political representation of women in Indonesia. Although Indonesian law has mandatet a quota of 30% for women's involvement in the management of political party and legislative candidacy, the political representation of women is not high.the policy of affirmation action through party quotas in an effort to reduce political discrimination was not succesful enough to increase the political participation of women, because political parties are still dominated by oligarchs who are not in favor of women. On the other hand, women are is still weak to compete in a very liberal procedural democracy. This study proposes a reserve seat as a system to be adopted in Indonesia to avoid the blocking of oligarchy in the fulfillment of women's quota mandated by the law.
