Bending of shear-deformable orthotropic cylindrical shells, reinforced by ring stiffeners, manufactured from a cylindrically-orthotropic material, in a steady-state thermal field, is considered. The difference between the temperatures outside and inside the shell remains constant. The material properties of the shell and the stiffeners can depend on the temperature. Closed-form solutions are obtained in a number of important particular cases. Numerical examples illustrate that even moderate differences between the external and internal temperatures can result in significant stresses and deformations of the shell. © 1991
