This paper is centered on the phenomenological description of spark-less discharges to displays. It analyzes the conduction currents injected onto the glass and the displacement currents flowing through the glass for spark-less discharges to metal-backed glass such as an liquid crystal display (LCD). Further, it provides a full-wave simulation model to reproduce the displacement current flowing through the glass into the display\u27s inner electronic structures. The currents can reach 10 A having pulse widths of tens of nanoseconds. Discharge voltage levels, polarities, approach speed, and humidity influences were investigated.
