Moving of the cornerstone, 1962

Black and white photograph (dated August 2, 1962) of the removal of the University of Scranton's cornerstone from Old Main, the original St. Thomas College building on Wyoming Avenue. The cornerstone, which had been placed by Bishop O'Hara in 1888, was transferred to the University's newly constructed St. Thomas Hall. Rev. Joseph A. Rock, S.J., Dean of the Graduate School and chairman of the University's seventy-fifth anniversary committee, supervises the work. When removed, the cornerstone held a copper box with six newspapers from the day of the dedication, and seven silver coins, including a 3-cent piece
