The atomic structure is one of the most abstract and hardest concepts to teach and learn, and therefore this project had as an objective to apply and to evaluate didactic strategies based on modeling together with the paradigm assumptions of Thomas Kuhn, in a way so as to demonstrate that the models are partial representations, that do not have the need to contain all of the macroscopic properties of what they represent. The pedagogical approach was made during six classes, each of them lasting for fifty minutes, in the Ninth Grade of Elementary School of a private school in Brazil, and twenty-seven students participated in the research altogether.
