This workshop will explore the advantages and disadvantages of credit-bearing information literacy courses and liaison-driven instruction programs that include one-shots or embedded instruction. Participants will examine the pros and cons of teaching a credit-bearing information literacy course in general and at their own institutions. They will also consider using curriculum mapping to create strategic, liaison-driven one-shot and embedded instruction programs within a major or program as an alternative to an information literacy class. Participants will work in groups to produce an outline the curriculum for a semester-long credit-bearing class or create a preliminary plan for a specific major or program using curriculum mapping.
