The significance of soil erosion as a critical factor in maintaining military training lands is well documented whereas soil compaction as an indicator of soil condition is less studied. The purpose of this research is to study soil compaction as an indicator of soil condition and to provide validating supporting data from field and laboratory research for computer models to replicate, for predictive purposes, military fool traffic on soil compaction. --Introduction, page 3
