ANALISIS PENYEBAB KECELAKAAN DAN PENYAKIT AKIBAT KERJA PADA TAMBANG BAWAH TANAH DOZ DI PT. FREEPORT INDONESIA

PT. Freeport Indonesia is a company occupied in the mining of copper and gold. PT Freeport Indonesia operates and mining operations in the region of Tembagapura, Mimika, Papua province, western part of Indonesia. Mining activities conducted in open pit and underground mining. One of the existing underground mine is DOZ underground mine. The main cause of the accident in the DOZ underground mine at PT. Freeport Indonesia are caused by unsafe acts as much as 75.5% of the employees who most often occurs, and the existence of unsafe conditions as much as 24.5% in the mine area. Age workers who often have accidents that younger age group is between 20 to 35 years old with a percentage of 78.72%, while the classification of an adult age is between 36 to 55 years old is only 21.28%. Level of education the workers that many have accidents are graduates STM / SMA with percentages of 84.04%, S1 / D3 13.82% and 2.13% for junior high school graduates. Junior workers who involved in the accident are the senior workers who the number is only slightly so that percentage is smaller. Level of frequency and severity of accident in the DOZ underground mine each year has decreased, so that occupational safety and health at PT. Freeport Indonesia is working effectively. Occupational diseases suffered by the employees from 2005 until March 2009 includes two types of diseases are hearing impaired as many as 28 cases and one case of pneumoconiosis. Major cause of occupational disease are work environment hazards factor in the DOZ mine at PT. Freeport Indonesia, which includes three main factors, such as dust, noise, and Diesel Particulate Matters( DPM ) . Attempts to reduce the occurrence of occupational diseases such as giving a personal protective equipment, removing dust from the source by spraying, administratively noise control, technically and control DPM with DPM level measurement program, emissions test for vehicle mine, as well as repairing and maintaining machine / equipment powered diesel and regular ventilation. Occupational disease can be determined by the understanding of perception on the issue of occupational disease among International Hospital ( International Hospital ) in Tembagapura with the Department of Occupational Safety, Health and Mine Environment in order to ensure the disease arising from occupational disease or not from the occupational
