Power system stabilizers (PSSs) enhance damping of any oscillations introduced in the system. It provides the most effective supplementary control to provide damping to eliminate oscillatory instability. The proper tuning of the PSS has a significant influence on its effectiveness in providing the required damping under operating conditions and disturbances. This paper presents an immune system based technique to adapt the fixed PSS parameters online during disturbances. Results are presented for the two-area four machine benchmark power system with the proposed adaptive PSS
