The paper presents a complex study concerning the fly ash deposits. It is known that the fly ash is an industrial by-product which is stored in landfills, with important implications on the environment. On this line, the general stability problem under different hydraulic and mechanical conditions was studied. Experimental and numerical analysis results are presented. The paper is about a fly ash embankment protected against erosion with different geotextile types. In order to obtain the main parameters of this compatibility problem, before performing a numerical analysis, some laboratory tests were undertaken. Conclusions were drawn regarding the optimum geotextile-fly ash filtration system to be used in such structures
