Jesus Cristo, símbolo de Kairos no pensamento de Paul Tillich e nos cultos afro-brasileiros

Jesus as the Christ, as the highest meaning of history and its giver is an image, a symbol with the mediatory function among the three dimensions of time, past, present and future and as well as between time and eternity and the divine and the human. What is important is that the mediation between God and human beings is accomplished through an image or symbol. The image of essential humanity was shown in the personal life of Jesus in spite of his existential condition. Even avoiding a christological pluralism, Tillich opened the door to new images of the New Being ouside the christian context, with the same properties of symbolization of the same image of Jesus. The syncretic figure of Christ in Afro-Brazilian religions plays with dignity the function of symbolizing existential moments of revelation, liberation and salvation in the fights and suffering history of Brazilian back afro-descendents
