The topic of incarcerated populations occupies a large presence within the standing literature. Within this work, scholarship has documented that convicted offenders often suffer from mental health and substance abuse disorders. Despite increasing numbers in the American prison system suffering from mental health and substance abuse disorders, little research has examined the impact of co-occurring disorders on inmates’ behaviors.
