“This thesis has two individual parts, the first topic is electromagnetic interference (EMI) testing and analysis of an engine control module, and the second one is about two current probe techniques for EMI investigations. In the first part, the EMI noise sources and coupling paths are investigated and characterized for an engine control module. The common-mode (CM) currents on the attached cables are measured using a current probe. The high-speed clock routing between the power and ground planes is also studied and discussed. Finally, some electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) design modifications are recommended for mitigating the EMI problems.
