The primary objective of this research is to develop a protocol for building distributed wireless sensor network from a collection of nodes each having: (a) the ability to sense some parameter of the environment under observation, (b) process this raw sensor data locally or by cooperating with its neighbors and (c) transmit the information to the end user. This network is designed to be self organizing in the sense of establishing and maintaining the inter node connectivity without the need for human intervention.
