This research work presents the results of finite element simulation and experimental investigation of residual stresses, cutting forces and surface roughness in orthogonal turning of titanium alloy. The Simulation of residual stresses, cutting forces and temperature in orthogonal turning of titanium alloy were conducted with the AdvantEdge metal cutting modeling software. Results from this study indicates that the circumferential residual stresses analysis for all cases of varying the cutting speed and feedrate were observed to tend towards compressive residual stress as the depth from the workpiece surface increases while surface residual stresses were predicted to be tensile.
