In this paper the influence of the nonlinear transverse vibration on the stability of statically compressed plates with initial imperfections is investigated. The dynamic variant of karman\u27s equations for an imperfect plate is used in studying the stability of forced vibration. It is shown numerically that the vibration of an imperfect statically compressed plate in the presence of compressive forces below the critical level may be unstable
