Economic theory tells us that if a country increases its level of education, we would expect to observe a rise in its income or GDP (gross domestic product). The reasoning behind the theory is this: when people are educated, they gain knowledge that transforms them into skilled labor. This skilled labor, when properly put into use, makes the various sectors of the economy more productive and efficient, and ultimately promotes a rise in the overall income level.
