Involving Stakeholders in Improving School Discipline through PBS

Having quality discipline in schools is vital for creating a culture that enhances student achievement. The purpose and function of a school\u27s discipline procedure is a task that school leadership cannot take on alone. This presentation will discuss ways that East Coweta Middle, a rural school in Senoia Georgia, has involved stakeholders in the discipline process and how we have modeled the school\u27s Positive Behavior Support in a communal effort to positively impact students, and reduce the amount of time students miss class due to behavioral issues. This presentation will cover several steps in the decision and implementation process of our school wide PBS plan. Steps include: data collection, identifying problems, communicating with stakeholders, developing solutions, implementation, and reorganizing the PBS approach. Also discussed in the presentation is the ways in which feedback from parents is used to assist in our school\u27s PBS plan
