Sources of Strength is designed to provide both awareness and early prevention as well as to support intervention systems already in place. Although suicide prevention is the primary goal, this program has shown to reduce violence and bullying as well. Through the use of peer leaders, Sources of Strength empowers students to spread hope, help and strength messages utilizing the influence of friendship networks and positive norming. The formula of one part fun, one part sharing and one part planning builds momentum and sustains interest in this peer leader program that is one of the most heavily researched.
