It has been proven in Christian-theological research that Jesus and most of his adherents originated from a poor background in Galilee. But that this historical fate is tightly related to his soteriological message, has – in my opinion – not been discussed sufficiently so far. In his depiction of the liberation movement founded with and for the poor, Luke draws a picture of early Christianity that perceives the solidarity with economically and emotionally indigent individuals (the πτωχοὶ) as part of his message, the proclamation of the kingdom of God
