To assess whether children have phonological disorders, we need to make use of screening tools of the child\u27s first language. This paper describes and evaluates one published phonological screening tool that has been developed for Cantonese-speaking children, the Cantonese Segmental Phonology Test (CSPT). Such a test is also valid for assessing children who speak Cantonese and other languages outside Hong Kong. In this review, we also report various findings on normal and disordered Cantonese phonological development based on this test
