As fellows of the Molecular Biology Initiative (MBI) at Georgia Southern University, we are partnered with a high school teacher to visit their classroom once a week in order to expand the student’s scientific knowledge and laboratory experience. I have worked together with the teacher to develop a module for the laboratory that uses animal dissections to help the students gain a better understanding of the biological principal of structure-function. During the module, students examined crayfish, starfish, dogfish, frogs, and arachnids using dissection techniques and microscopy.
