Oral history interview with Tom Vance conducted by Tom Coyne on April 13, 1990. Thomas Vance was a student at WMU from 1974 to 1978, involved in the Western Herald and also in the Army ROTC program during that time. Thomas Vance discusses how he came to WMU, his interest in journalism, dorm life, discrimination as a veteran on campus during the 70s, minority and international students, and influential professors. He describes his role as editor at the Western Herald, the equipment, and sports events covered. He also recalls the faculty strike of 1975. After graduation in 1978, he continued his ROTC training and continued to work as the US Army Public Affairs Officer. He was later hired a public relations associate at the Upjohn Company until 1998.No audio available
