This paper seeks to clarify several misconceptions that occasionally arise with respect to direct-inverse marking, person hierarchies, obviation, and transitivity in the Algonquian languages. The paper presents illustrative data from a variety of Algonquian languages and is intended to serve as a reference for some of the more complex principles of Algonquian morphosyntax
