La participación de la mujer en la economía del Estado de Yucatán

The present article aims to exhibit the role of women in the economy of the State of Yucatan. The study was undertaken with a quantitative and descriptive approach based on the analysis of official statistical data that allowed to offer an overview of the current employment situation of women and their participation as entrepreneurs. Company size and economic sector were utilized as categories of analysis. Based on the analysis of the data, it is concluded that, in Yucatan, and in comparison with men, there is greater participation of employed women. Likewise, they are working, mainly, in service activities such as health and education. The role of women as entrepreneurs is highlighted as, in the state, they represent a greater percentage than their male counterparts, even higher than at the national level.El presente artículo tiene como objetivo dar a conocer el papel de la mujer en la economía del estado de Yucatán. El estudio se llevó a cabo con un enfoque cuantitativo y descriptivo a partir del análisis de datos estadísticos oficiales que permitieron ofrecer un panorama de la situación laboral actual de la mujer y su participación en emprendimientos. Se utilizó como categoría de análisis el tamaño de las empresas y los sectores económicos. Con base en el análisis de los datos, se concluye que, en Yucatán, y en comparación con los hombres, existe una mayor participación de mujeres empleadas. Asimismo, éstas se encuentran laborando, principalmente, en actividades de servicios como la salud y la educación. Se destaca la labor de las mujeres como emprendedoras pues, en el estado, representan un mayor porcentaje que sus contrapartes hombres, incluso mayor que a nivel nacional
