Introduction: obesity is the most frequent nutritional disease in children and adolescents, the ascending behavior in both developed countries and in areas of poverty makes it a global epidemic.Objective: to identify some risk factors related to obesity in patients from 1 to 18 years of age, residents of the popular council Francisco Vicente Aguilera of the Bayamo West policlínico in Bayamo, Granma.Methods: an observational analytical case and control study was carried out that investigated the association between obesity and sociodemographic, environmental, nutritional and other risk factors related to the mother.
