Cáncer de mama en pacientes femeninas de Granma: 1992 - 2011

Introduction: the breast cancer is well known since ancient times; it is the most frequent malignant disease reported in women and it is the first cause of death that has become in a pandemia which threatens to be spread even more if it we do not found the way for a proper prevention that could be applied in the vulnerable population.Objective: it was performed a descriptive observational and transverse type study, with the aim to characterize the behavior of the Breast Cancer in feminine patients of Granma, in the period between January, 1992 to November, 2011.Method: the universe of the investigation was made by 1515 patients that came to the multidisciplinary breast consultation and the sample was constituted by 1110 patients that were remitted to the Imaging department for the mammography.Results: the results were expressed through charts in absolute and relative frequencies. The greatest amount of cases was in the group of ages of 51- 60 years. The location of the injury in the right breast and the external upper quadrant prevailed. The nodular injures and the distortions of the mammary pattern were the most frequent monographic findings, prevailing the Infiltrate Duct Carcinoma by histology.Conclusions: the prevailing group of ages was between 51 to 60 years old; the most frequent location of the lesions were in the right breast and in the superior external quadrant, the mammographic findings that prevailed were the nodular lesions and the distortion of the mammary pattern, the prevailing histological type was the Infiltrating Duct Carcinoma.Introducción: el cáncer de mama (CM) es uno de los cánceres que se conoce desde épocas antiguas; es la enfermedad maligna más frecuente reportada en las mujeres y la primera causa de muerte por cáncer que se ha convertido en una pandemia que amenaza con propagarse aún más, si no se halla la forma de lograr una prevención adecuada que se pueda aplicar a toda la población susceptible.Objetivo: se realizó un estudio observacional descriptivo, de corte transversal con el objetivo de caracterizar el comportamiento del Cáncer de Mama en pacientes femeninas de Granma, en el periodo comprendido de enero de 1992 a noviembre del 2011.Método: el universo estuvo constituido por 1515 pacientes femeninas que acudieron a la consulta multidisciplinaria de mama y la muestra por 1110 pacientes que fueron remitidas al departamento de Imagenología para realización de Mamografía.Resultados: los resultados se expresaron en forma de tablas en frecuencias absolutas y relativas. El mayor número de casos fue en el grupo de edad de 51- 60 años. Predominó la localización de la lesión en mama derecha y el cuadrante superior externo. Las lesiones nodulares y la distorsión del patrón mamario fueron los hallazgos monográficos más frecuentes y prevaleció el Carcinoma Ductal Infiltrante por histología.Conclusiones: el grupo de edades que predominó fue el comprendido entre 51 y 60 años; la localización más frecuente de aparición de las lesiones fue en la mama derecha y en el cuadrante superior externo, los hallazgos mamográficos que predominaron fueron las lesiones nodulares y la distorsión del patrón mamario, el tipo histológico que predominó fue el Carcinoma Ductal Infiltrante
