Success in dealing with subsidence impact assessment due to underground coal mining and cognate issues depends primarily on the prediction of the magnitude and spatial distributions of subsidence parameters. For Indian coalfields, a three-dimensional subsidence prediction methodology has been developed, described briefly in this paper. To apply this methodology, a simple procedure need to be followed consisting of some steps where “mining design” parameters are to be modified strategically and logically with due respect to “fixed” parameters.
