Laser equipment has made much easier to take accurate measurements to inaccessible locations without occupying the position physically. Laser can be used in profiling the rock face and ground modeling with the use of proper software. Toxic gases can also be monitored by using the diode lasers to the gas monitoring systems. Laser can be used for three dimensional mapping to measure the wall thickness at ant point as well as the ceiling height throughout the mine and also in mine planning operations. Lasers can be explored for roof fall detection of an underground mine. Open beam lasers can produce explosion and hazards in a coal mine where methane is available is it is not used in limits.
