Surface subsidence is a usual phenomenon in underground coal mining. Bord & pillar mining is the most common form of underground coal mining in India. Subsidence study has been done over the Bord and pillar mining lying beneath the forest land at Kothagudem area of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) situated at Andra Pradesh, India. The horizontal strain developed due to subsidence plays a significant role in affecting the land environment. The paper deals with the impact on land environemt due to subsidence caused by mining
