A Participação da Mulher nos Assentamentos Rurais: Um Estudo no Pontal do Paranapanema

This article is a section of a survey conducted in two rural settlements in Pontal do Paranapanema region. In view of the extent and importance of the topic, we understand that there is a pressing need for more research addressing questions of gender within the existing body of research engaged with rural settlement issues throughout the country, endeavoring their implementation into academic world in order to contribute to a better understanding of the social realities of these new spaces as well as influencing the policy formulation towards gender issues, with the purpose to improve their performance. This paper seeks to outline the skills and competencies of settled women in two projects in President Venceslau town (SP). We used a combination of research methods including participant observation, opinions from a sample of respondents (the focus of this article), and interviews. We found significant gender differences that were clear in the distribution of power in the settlements, although, there is a tendency to reduce these differences when compared to other researches.Keywords: Rural Settlements; Agrarian Reform; Gender Relations.Este artigo é parte de uma pesquisa realizada em dois AssentamentosRurais do Pontal do Paranapanema. Entendemos que, pela profundidade erelevância do tema, é de suma importância que pesquisas de gênero relacionadasaos grupos que compõem os assentamentos no país sejam cada vez maispresentes no universo acadêmico, a fim de contribuir para a compreensão darealidade destes novos espaços sociais, bem como influenciar a formulação depolíticas específicas para a melhoria deles. O presente trabalho procura delinearo perfil das mulheres assentadas em dois projetos no município de PresidenteVenceslau/SP. Nossa estratégia de pesquisa mesclou a observação participante,um levantamento amostral (base deste artigo) e entrevistas. Verificamos apermanência de significativas diferenças de gênero na distribuição de poder nosassentamentos, embora haja a tendência de diminuição das mesmas quandocomparadas com outras pesquisas
