The Government of Brazil has provided extensive support to the process of land occupation in the Legal Amazon through subsidized credits for the conversion of forest lands to agropastoral activities. The Federal Government has offered many incentives to the State of Mato Grosso especially for the region of Alta Floresta. However, this process has generated negative environmental externalities causing negative impact on agroecosystems due to the prevalent anthropocentric vision at the time.
