This paper presents results of ground vibration measurements carried out in an Indian iron ore mine. Blasting experiments are conducted in same bench, monitored in the same ground but explosives of different velocity of detonation were used. Peak particle velocity, acceleration, frequencies and displacement of transverse, vertical and longitudinal components are analyzed and compared. Blasting strata, delay timing and monitoring sites were kept constant. Thus effect of velocity of detonation on ground vibrations is studied in detail. Research work (modeling study) was conducted on this aspect by Farsangi et al (1999).
