A post-operative eosinophilia, the existence of which has already been put foreward in our previous papers, has been discussed especially on the myelogram, and on its relation to the peri-pheral blood picture. The details are as follows 1) Both at the period of post-operative eosinopenia and eosinophilia, eosinophile leucocytes in the bone marrow show a shift to the right to a certain extent, as compared with those in the peripheral blood, its maximum being at the period of eosinophilia. Moreover, the number of eosinophile leucocytes in the bone marrow also increases at the period of peripheral eosinophilia. 2) The migratory ability of the peripheral eosinophile leucocytes descends at the period of the post-operative eosinopenia, while at the period of post-operative eosinophilia, it is somewhat reinforced for a while, and is gradually restored afterward to the normal state. 3) According to these findings, the authors are of the opinion that the migratory ability of the eosinophile leucocytes itself may be one of the efficient causes of the migration of those cells out of the bone marrow. 4) The participation of hypophyseo-adrenocortical hormones may be present among the relations between eosinophilia and hormonal system. We, however, consider that the question of the mechanism of eosinophilia cannot be solved by one or a few hormones alone, but that is co-ntains many factors including the present, which in spite of its importance is only a single factor
