Economic growth is not keeping pace with jobs for the country’s large and growing youth population. This policy brief highlights the issues of youth employment and underemployment, current measures to address the problem, and research pathways that can influence policy. Half Tanzania’s population is under the age of 15, and increasing by 2.7 percent each year. Education and skills training are essential for Tanzanian youth, where less than 12 percent of the total population complete lower secondary education.MasterCard Foundatio
