Transforming the slum through creation of property market : a case study of M-ward in Mumbai

This research questions the nature of the contemporary Indian state, its relationship to neoliberalism, implications for the poor, and governance in relation to settlements and the urban poor. There are critical shifts in the forms, intensity, nature, sources and instruments of violence since the 1990s. The case study is divided into six sections: 1.
