The project successfully combined training, research, publication and dissemination. The Africa Peace and Conflict Journal (APCJ) has become an important venue for both emerging and established researchers in Africa for publication of research on peace, governance and security. Through the UPEACE Africa Policy Series, research was directed towards influencing policy. As well as seven issues of APCJ, four books have been published during the project. The research sought to engender policy-relevant knowledge towards increasing state accountability in good governance and human security, while increasing research capacity at the doctoral level, and strengthening research institutions in Africa
