This report provides an overview of a five-year research and capacity building programme involving eight research studies, forming a Community-of-Practice (CoP) for ecohealth research on vector-borne diseases, with a focus on dengue in urban and peri-urban areas and on Chagas disease in rural settings. The research process led to design of site-specific intervention packages using innovative biological, chemical, mechanical and/or environmental vector control technologies and/or a combination of these tools. Based on preliminary results, the eco-system interventions in five study sites indicate significant interventions in vector densities compared to routine programmes. The paper summarizes programme outputs, outcomes and community impact
