PowerPoint presentationThe presentation investigates whether use of ICT systems can change the level of poverty of households, individuals and communities. 1600 households in Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda were interviewed in 2007/8 and again in 2010. When only households below a money-metric poverty line are considered, education is revealed as the major difference between those with ICT and those without. Part of the reduction in money-metric poverty is due to improvements in ICT access, about 0.5 percent per annum. Access to ICT contributes to reduction in poverty and this benefit was felt more strongly by the poorest who were surveyed
