The general objective of the study was to investigate socio-economic, technical and environmental factors influencing production of simsim within the existing farming systems at producer level, and recommend ways of improving simsim production in Morogoro District. A single visit survey was carried out in Mvomero village where 20 farmers were randomly selected for primary data collection using a well structured questionnaire to cover the objectives. Secondary data was obtained from GAPEX, NMC, Ministry of agriculture and by informal contacts with government village leaders and village extension agents. Tabulation, multiple regression, simple correlation, gross margins and X2 – test were important tools of analysis
