This book provides country profiles and baseline information towards disaster mitigation in Central and Latin America. The project addresses the responsibilities of the Organization of American States (OAS) and Department of Sustainable Development (OAS/DSD) for implementing risk management, and serves to provide technical assistance to the OAS Member States for the development of Natural Disaster Risk Management public policies. It assesses the use of ICTs for disaster mitigation and responds to the need for access and distribution of data, with timely availability of information. The problem is not the availability of data, but its delivery and accessibility
