One of the core aims of AJSTID is to encourage emerging researchers and scholars particularly in Africa to publish their work in a journal that is read by a global community working on these topics. This first issue covers topics on the economics of innovation; lessons from Danish development for innovation in Africa, Network for the Coordination and Advancement of Sub-Saharan Africa-EU Science and Technology Cooperation (CAAST-Net) research cooperation between Europe and Africa; IDRC funded pan-African research on e-governance; and a re-print of the seminal work of Nelson and Winter’s ‘Useful theory of innovation.
