Social entrepreneurship and learning : the case of the Central America learning alliance

The paper analyzes the Central America Learning Alliance in the context of recent literature on entrepreneurship and learning. It examines key concepts to identify those most relevant to understanding social entrepreneurship. It uses the case study of a multi-stakeholder network to illustrate “social entrepreneurship” within the framework for innovation and learning. The Central America Learning Alliance focuses on promoting processes of rural enterprise development. Innovation activities that have social objectives, often conducted by non-profit organizations such as the Central America Learning Alliance, as well as for-profit commercial enterprises, are what constitute social entrepreneurship
