Benin : agro-meteorological early warning to reduce agricultural vulnerability to climate change; the experiences of PARBCC in Benin

This bulletin reviews the project and farmers’ evaluations. Due to the participatory approach, farmers suggested gradual improvements to the system. For instance, new crop calendars helped improve yields. By sowing at the right time, farmers successfully endured pockets of drought, early cessation of rain and excessive rains at crop season end. Ten-day rather than monthly information helps farmers to better plan and monitor the crop season
