The purpose of this paper is to compare the emission structure of carbon dioxide between Japan and Germany at the most detailed classification ever of the industrial branches. To do that, the input-output table and data relating with CO2 emitted from each industrial branch were aggregated, transformed and adjusted into 54 comparable branches. After that, the intertemporal changes and the differences between Japan and Germany were decomposed into factors and analyzed
