This case study develops a methodology to generate information about the social and economic impacts of Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) corn on small-scale farmers, to draw policy implication for inputs to the National Committee on Biosafety of the Philippines (NCBP), which addresses socio-economic considerations for decision-making. Findings showed that the mode of farming, and the demands of farming among those who plant Bt and hybrid corn might not be significantly different. However, differences may be more clearly examined if the comparison group is small-scale farmers who use open-pollinated varieties of corn and who cannot afford to use Bt or non-Bt corn
