Newsletter Hakuen was a publication of the Hakuen Academy, a private school for Chinese studies based in Osaka Japan. This newsletter was published over a period of sixteen years, from 1927 to 1943. FUJISAWA Koha and ISHIHAMA Juntaro were responsible for editing Hakuen, with ISHIHAMA playing a particularly important role in deciding the policy of the newsletter, as well as article writing. The students of Hakuen Academy also greatly contributed to editing the newsletter. Hakuen managed to be published throughout the Showa period despite facing many difficulties, not least of all the Second World War.
