The programme on gender mainstreaming (GM) in the Middle East and North Africa region was launched by the Near East and North Africa (NENA) division of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). The paper documents some success stories of rural women that were targeted by the GM activities of IFAD-funded projects. Each story ends with lessons learned and feedback from the target audience. It provides valuable recommendations for implementing GM projects in a male-dominated society. Integration between various local authorities is crucial.
